Cheerleader hailed as hero reunites with coach she saved

A week after the head coach of the Indianapolis Tornados collapsed on the sidelines and was saved thanks the work of one of the team's cheerleaders, the two reunited for the first time.

Head Coach Jerry Senters suffered a medical emergency during the team's July 7 game.

As the crowd called for help, cheerleader Jessica Anderson rushed to perform CPR on Senters. Anderson is an EMT who volunteers for the team's cheerleading team. Her work is being credited with saving Senters' life.

"I do not consider myself a hero. I was just in the right place at the right time, doing what I was trained to do," Anderson said.

Still, Senters said he will forever be grateful to Anderson. He also hoped the experience would teach the importance of knowing CPR and being prepared in case of an emergency.

"There's no pre-notice that this is going to happen. You have to be prepared," Senters said.

Senters will be back at his coaching duties soon. He has also invited the entire staff at St. Vincent Hospital to the team's next home game on July 28 as a thank you.
